A 6-day Jamaican Cultural Experience
Check into the Wexford Court Hotel and enjoy the day at leisure.
Start your tour after breakfast at the Wexford Court. From Montego Bay visit Outameni Experience where you’ll benefit from a unique blend of ‘edutainment.’ This is a moving cultural experience that celebrates Jamaica’s rich culture depicted in small architecturally designed villages showing Taino, Spanish, English, African, East Indian, Chinese and Jamaica today. Take in a scenic drive into the interior of St. Ann to visit a Revival Church. At this church you will experience the real Revival vibes and gain further insights into the history and functioning of the movement. The trek downhill to Ocho Rios and climb the 600 feet of gently terraced waterfalls of Dunn’s River. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery as you travel along the coastline in St. Mary into Port Antonio and experience the charm of this old resort town. Relax for the night at Bayview Villas where you’ll experience the lush green tropical surroundings while enjoying true Jamaican hospitality at this country-styled facility.
Depart Bayview Villas and take in the awesome view of the Blue Mountain range as you journey to St. Thomas, not before having the real taste of jerk at Boston, home of Jerk. Take a revitalizing bath at Bath Fountain & Spa and experience the warm healing waters from a mineral spring. Relax and enjoy the journey across the hilly terrain of the parish to Kingston and visit Devon House home of the famous and favorite ‘Devon House I Scream.’ Enjoy an easy ride up Hope Road and visit the University of the West Indies, now home to Racers Club. You will observe the relics of the plantation era with ruins of the aqueducts, then drive through the University of Technology, also home of the MVP camp. Take an easy evening ride around the suburbs of St. Andrew and then ‘escape’ to Port Royal and ‘chill out’ before returning to Kingston for a relaxing night at Four Seasons Hotel in Kingston.
Visit the former base of Henry Morgan’s ‘buccaneers’ and see Fort Charles and other buildings that remind us of that era of piracy in Jamaica. Enjoy a comfortable ride along Kingston Harbour to the Bank of Jamaica and view the Money Museum where you will certainly see those long talked about notes and coins that we used as children or that our parents and grandparents would always tell us about… from Taino trade to pieces of eight… Christian quatties… from pounds, shillings and pence to dollars and cents. A tour through downtown Kingston would take you through Parade, the centerpiece of Kingston and up to the National Heroes Park where you see monuments and final resting places of our National Heroes and other outstanding Jamaicans. Experience a very scenic and comfortable ride along the Mandela Highway and Highway 2000 to Clarendon. Treat your taste buds to ‘real’ Jamaican Patties and continue on a very scenic ride through central Jamaica to one of Jamaica’s most popular seafood restaurants, Little Ochie. Enjoy a sumptuous seafood meal and retire for the night at Sunset Resort & Villas in Treasure Beach.
See where two lovers chose death rather than be separated at Lovers Leap. Enjoy a seven mile journey by boat in the lower morass of the Black River. You will be amazed to see the crocodiles bask in the sun and enjoy the sights of water birds, mangroves and water lilies during the journey. Take a relaxing and scenic ride to YS Falls, which boasts a magnificent seven tiered cascading waterfall, canopy rides, river tube rides and an expansive wading pool fed by an underground spring. There you will spend some time immersed in the bounty of nature, surrounded by water, garden, giant trees and a constant surprise of tropical birds. After this exhilarating experience on the falls, journey into the cockpit country to the home of the Maroons, Accompong Town. At this very historic community you will get that long-awaited opportunity to see the Maroons, who will be proud to share their history with you and take you on a tour which will highlight the Kinda Tree and Seal Grounds. View the entire contents of the famous and historic Maroon Treaty in their Museum. Then return to Montego Bay by traveling through the interior of the parishes of St. Elizabeth and St. James and then retire for the night at Wexford Court.
Check out of Wexford and return to airport.
